Dear Wonderful Mothers at R-Train,

I was so thrilled to read all of your messages on the message board.
Wow, Wow, Woooow!
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and your lovely comments.
I am very flattered.

I would also like to express my sincere thanks toビコ-san for giving me such a wonderful opportunity as well as toアプリコット-san for your time and thought given to translate my letter into beautiful Japanese. The translation is so much better than my own. I mean it!

For those of you who considered yourselves to have 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades of comprehension levels proposed, please, please don't worry! I've been through what many of you are going through. I think that language development is sort of like child rearing. Although you may not see any immediate results or improvements, you will definitely see them in a few months as long as you keep working on them.

I hope that my letter and future letters will become nice additions to your reference library, and I promise to work hard on them.

こんなステキな機会を提供して下さったビコさん、
素晴らしい日本語に訳して下さったアプリコットさん、
大切な休日に辞書を引いて奮闘して下さった春菜さん、
美しい日本のお祭りを思い出させて下さったDreamerさん、
(毎年日本を訪れるウチの娘もハロウィンと地蔵盆を関連付けて考えてました。)

そしてお忙しい中私のハロウィン・レターを一生懸命読んで下さったすべての皆様、どうもどうもありがとうございました。

皆様のメッセージ一通一通をハラハラ･ドキドキしながら読ませて頂きました。

キスケさん、ランボさん、Shel Silverstein の詩集、我が家には2冊あります。
一見分厚いですが、短い詩が多いので…それにいつでもどこからでも読めるし、イラストを見ているだけでも楽しいので、もっと分厚くてもいいのに…と思うくらいです。我が家は家族全員が彼のファンなので、これからも折々彼の詩を紹介させて下さい。

前回ご紹介した、Enter This Deserted House の中で一箇所判りにくいかな…と思われる所があるので、この場を借りて説明させて下さい。上から３行目から４行目にかけての
・・・・・・・・, only blue
Jays dwell here ・・・・・・・.
というところです。押韻のために blue で切っていますが、blue と Jays は続きで、blue jay という鳥の名前です。とても美しいコバルト･ブルーの鳥で、春から夏にかけて我が家の庭にも時々顔を出してくれます。

子育てにおいても、また語学に限らずどんな技術の習得でも、「継続は力なり」だとしみじみ思います。私もこの機会を通してもう一段階上の文章力が身につくようがんばりますので、皆様も英語力アップを目指してがんばって下さい。
